After years of hands-on philanthropy, Gates exposes 3 myths: 1)  Poor countries are doomed to stay poor; 2) Foreign aid is a big waste; 2) Saving lives leads to overpopulation. See interview on Charlie Rose
Mitt Romney
The United States stopped plans to build a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe "as a gift to Russia."
Gates, the Bush official who recommended the plan in 2006, acknowledged he drove the change in policy because of improved American intelligence of what the Iranians were working on -- not just to be nice to the Russians.
Mitt Romney
No single “major country has greater respect and admiration for America today than it did five years ago when Barack Obama became president.”
Although America’s stature worldwide slipped last year, its favorability was still much higher than during the last year of the George W. Bush administration, including in major countries such as France, Germany and Japan, according to the latest polls from the Pew Research Center.
Chain Email
"The President wants the U.S. to sign on to the U.N.’s International Criminal Court."
The Obama administration has been more willing to engage with the court than the Bush administration, but Obama has made no sign that he wants to become a full-blown member of the court. Even if he did, doing so would require 67 votes in the Senate.
John Garamendi D Calif
"During the George W. Bush period, there were 13 attacks on various embassies and consulates around the world. Sixty people died."
PolitiFact found Garamendi slightly understated the number of deadly attacks and total fatalities, even using a strict definition, particularly when including attacks on ambassadors and embassy personnel who were traveling to or from embassy property.

In a 65-page budget proposal released by Paul’s office in March 2011, he recommended, "the elimination of all foreign aid, including provisions to Israel." In a Wolf Blitzer interview he said when we give money to Israel plus Islamic nations like Egypt and Syria we may be funding an arms race on both sides.

Prayer Request
PRAYER NEEDED: It appears to be true that ISIS is beheading children in Queragosh, Iraq.
Christians are being given a choice to convert to Muslim, pay a huge fine, or be murdered.  Reportedly, those who pay a fine myst surrender their wives and daughters to ISIS to become Muslim wives.  Children's heads are being desplayed on a stick in the park. See CNN report
Documents released by Edward Snowden reveal that American, British and Israeli intelligence agencies worked together to create the Islamic State.
This is a conspiracy theory about secret CIA mind-control programs and other baseless claims that were promoted by a Canadian, CRG and alternative news in Canada that promotes many other conspiracy theories.  Snowden has no connection to this hoax.
Henry Kissenger, Nixon Sec of State
Kissinger: Drones have killed more civilians than the bombing of Cambodia in the Vietnam War
While data is not precise in both cases, there have been barely over 1,000 civilian deaths due to precise drone strikes, compared to at least 4,000 civilian deaths due to American bombs in Cambodia where Nixon ordered half a million tons of bombs over four years.
Ted Cruz Tx
Ted Cruz was booed off platform at 'Defense of Christians' Gala.
The Defense of Christians was meant to be about unity of people of all nationalities and faiths coming together to support persecution of peoples of all faiths. Cruz' remarks to the audience, which included many Middle Eastern Christians, emphasized his devotion to the state of Israel.
Greg Abbott Tx Gop Gov Candidate
Abbott claims during Sept. 19 Texas Gubernatorial debate, "I’ve been involved in prosecuting a terrorist member of ISIS."
He was referring to the arrest of Michael Todd Wolfe, an ISIS want-a-be arrested in Houston before leaving the USA. The FBI Central Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force conducted the investigation.  There is no evidence Abbott was involved.
Mitch Mcconnell Sen Ky
The Senate Majority Leader says that the climate-change agreement between the United States and China "requires the Chinese to do nothing at all for 16 years.
Experts say that it is not in China’s interest to spend the next 16 years working toward the goal, but building that infrastructure cannot be done overnight and will take years to carry out.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney
Cheney on torture report: Saddam Hussein 'had a 10-year relationship with al-Qaida'.
Chaney's claim on NBC’s Meet the Press, Dec. 14, 2014, is refuted by high-level government reports based on a trove of secret Iraqi government documents that fell into American hands after the invasion.
Barack Obama
Obama campaign promise fulfilled. Americans granted unrestricted rights to visit family and send money to Cuba.
Obama said, "Cuban American connections to family in Cuba are not only a basic right in humanitarian terms, but also our best tool for helping to foster the beginnings of grassroots democracy on the island."
Marco Rubio
Marco Rubio says Castros, not embargo, reason Cubans don't have Internet
The U.S. sanctions have played a role in limited availability of technology. However, Rubio is right that the Cuban government has nearly complete control over the Internet.
Rick Perry
"Obama has chosen to deny the vicious anti-Semitic motivation of the attack on a kosher Jewish grocery in Paris."
On several occasions Obama called the Paris attack an act of anti-Semitism. In one interview while responding to a question Obama said the attackers were "randomly" shooting people in the store.  Perry twisted words and implied meaning that was clearly not there.
Tom Cotton Ak Gop House
Republicans attempt to sabotage U.S. foreign policy and stampede America into another war in the Middle East.
A group of 47 Republican senators have written an open letter to Iran's leaders warning them that any nuclear deal they sign with President Barack Obama's administration won't last after Obama leaves office.  This grossly immature and unethical manipulation of National policy to undermine national security is unthinkable. If Iran does not sigh the agreement we are left with two horrible options; a nuclear Iran or war.
Rush Limbaugh
Says "Ted Kennedy sent a letter to then Soviet leader Yuri Andropov apologizing for Ronald Reagan and begging the Soviets not to overreact."
There is no evidence there ever was a letter from Kennedy. Limbaugh’s statement rests on a 1983 KGB memo that said there was a verbal overture from a friend of Kennedy's to meet with Andropov.
Barack Obama
Five things President Obama wants to discuss with Pope Francis when the pontiff comes to DC.
1. Poor And Marginalized Populations; 2. Environmental Stewardship; 3. Religious Freedom; 4. Economic Opportunity; 5. and Immigration Reform.
Rush Limbaugh
Limbaugh says,"85 percent donated to the Clinton Foundation ended up either with the Clintons or with their staff to pay for travel, salaries, and benefits."
Limbaugh's statement ignores critical facts that would give a different impression. While 85% did go to Clinton Foundation staff for travel, salaries and benefits, most of the foundation's charitable work is done in-house. The Clinton Foundation says 88% goes to charitable programs, including 15% went to charitable grants to outside organizations.
Anti-smoking Efforts
As nicotine use has decreased in rich countries, Tobacco companies are fighting to force developing countries to make up for losses in their revenue.
All over the world countries are trying to stop nicotine addiction, but tobacco companies are delaying or blocking implementation of anti-smoking laws in poorer countries by tying them up in litigation, saying that their tobacco laws violate an expanding web of trade and investment treaties.
Barack Obama
Obama said Iranian hard-liners chanting "death to America" and the Republican caucus were "making common cause" by refusing to support the Iran nuclear deal.
He pointed out that, "inside of Iran, the people most opposed to the deal are the Revolutionary Guard, the Quds force, hard-liners who are implacably opposed to any cooperation with the international community,"
Ben Carson Gop Candidate
Ben Carson is open to using military drones on U.S. soil to secure border.
The retired neurosurgeon and GOP candidate has not clarified whether he'd back lethal force from drones on the border, or how drone strikes could be used without sacrificing innocent lives.
Donald Trump
Trump claims that under the Iran deal: "If Israel attacks Iran … we’re supposed to be on Iran’s side."
The claim is a misinterpretation of a provision that the U.S. and other partners are prepared, "as appropriate," to cooperate with training to strengthen Iran’s ability to protect against terrorists, saboteurs , and respond to nuclear security threats, and sabotage.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump says he never said he wanted to give nuclear arms to Japan.
After Hillary spoke of his support of giving nuclear arms to Japan, Trump denied it. In a March 26 interview with the New York Times, he rambled about it.  He "didn’t quite say he wants Japan to get nuclear weapons, but he did go right up to the line. He was leaving the option on the table."
Hillary Clinton Presidential Candidate
Hillary claims that "Donald Trump says climate change is a hoax invented by the Chinese."
Trump has repeatedly called climate change a "hoax" in speeches, tweets and media appearances, and while he hasn’t necessarily repeated the charge that China "invented" climate change, he has said as recently as Jan. 18, 2016, that action on climate change "is done for the benefit of China."
Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton is innocent of any wrongdoing in Benghazi.
After spending more than two years and $7 million, the House Select Committee on Benghazi released a report Tuesday that found — like eight investigations before it — no evidence of wrongdoing by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or other members of the Obama administration.
