PolitiFact found no sign of such a statement -- or anything close..Cruz says Democrats are "fighting a war on religious liberty," but there is no basis for this wild, outrageous claim. Christians should uphold the truth.
After years of hands-on philanthropy, Gates exposes 3 myths: 1) Poor countries are doomed to stay poor; 2) Foreign aid is a big waste; 2) Saving lives leads to overpopulation. See interview on Charlie Rose
This comprehensive editorial reviews a wide range of trends to explore this issue.
Rules to determine if someone is mentally incompetent and a risk for gun violence are enforced differently in various jurisdictions. This is not law, it isn’t enacted and it isn’t unconstitutional
according to Supreme Court jurisprudence.
Truth is most people are getting more benefits under the
law. At worst, they’re paying more to get more, though in many cases
they’re actually paying less. Premiums have steadily increased (more than doubled from 2000 until Obama took office.) Four of the smallest rate increases of the last 14 years were under Obama. Increase in healthcare costs have also slowed during the last four years.
Bad Math! Every indicator right now suggests there will be a net gain in coverage. First, most of the people who lost their insurance have seen those
policies extended to them through an administrative fix, or
received new coverage through their previous insurer, or bought a
Second, millions of people gained coverage through Medicaid, or by remaining on parents insurance until age 26.
Damon is accurately highlighting a little-known problem to an American audience.but fortunately, due to improvements, the current loss from diarrhea caused by tainted water has decreased from 1.5 million deaths to about 760,000 deaths a year.
Still a tragedy.
Americans for Prosperity (Kosh brothers) makes sweeping claims about the health-care law that lack context or offer a misleading picture. They claim not to be about politics yet run in states with competitive Senate races. They misconstrue facts.
The clearly stated goal for 2014, that the White House
hit just in time, was 7 million signups. By 2019, that number is
expected to jump to 27 million. Rubio does have a point that many Americans will remain uninsured under
the reform, but his claim twists the administration’s timeline for
enrolling uninsured Americans.
Generation Opportunity, a Koch brothers-backed group, didn’t bribe students, but they did offer alcohol
to young people at Opt-Out events near college campuses, to encourage young people to consider buying health insurance other than the Affordable Care Act.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report is misquoted. The CBO said the health care law will give more people an
incentive to reduce their hours; some will limit their hours and some
will stop working altogether by their own choice. The law would not push
up unemployment, but may affect the number of hours worked..
An application must be submitted to be considered enrolled. Some insurance companies accept payment online, and others mail statements. Most states require a month grace period. Trump has oversimplifed a highly regulated private industry.
These fabrications originated in 2009 as part of a widely distributed 'letter from Judge David Kithil', which contained many totally false criticisms of "Obamacare" health care reform legislation.
In at least two instances Republican Congressman Tim Huelskamp simply invented his claim that
“numbers” exist showing that “there are more people uninsured today in
Kansas” since the health-care law was implemented.
First, Paul cherry picked data from outdated estimates/ not facts. His figures are not mathematically possible. Using the narrowest definition
of "sign-ups," there would have to be 3.3 million cancellations in the
state for his figures to be true. In fact, it’s reasonable to argue that more people in Kentucky have coverage through Obamacare than have been canceled.
As many as 400,000 Virginians could become eligible for Medicaid
under Obamacare, and the U.S. would pay their entire health care costs
But the $5 million-a-day figure comes from an old state estimate. Updated data shows loss of $3.5 million a day for the 2014 budget year, and about $4.5 million a day
during the following budget year.
The research was to find ways to control spread of HIV. The ad misleads by cherry pickking a handful of out-of-date votes to create the impression that
Simpson and Pelosi are in ideological lockstep. Suggesting any substantial
alliance between Simpson and Pelosi is ridiculous.
It is true that Canadian middle class incomes are now higher than in the United States.
They are working fewer hours for more pay, living longer on average,
and facing less income inequality." Her claim that Canada provides a better safety net is hard to measure statistically.
Dads are important!
A study conducted between 1999 and 2005, showed that dad's involvement in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of
HIV, reduced the risk of transmitting the disease 40% compared to couples with no male involvement.
Few Americans have paid maternity leave. The rest of the developed world has at least
some paid benefits, but many developed countries still have inferior benefits.
Only undocumented minors who arrived prior to June 2012, were eligible for "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DECA. Central American news media routinely portray Obama as tough on
immigration. These children are escaping extreme violence, crime, and poverty.
Jebreal claims that desparate conditions in Gaza are under reported in the US. Estimates range upward from 67 percent go without water. 90 to 95 percent of the water from Gaza’s coastal aquifer (their only
natural source of fresh water) isn’t suitable for drinking.
Other than an excise tax on high-cost plans, the Congressional Budget Office Report that he refers to showed how more high-income earners
will have to pay
taxes over time
, but most of the middle class wouldn’t be affected,
even 25 years from now
Ebola has only been found in Africa -- and experts agree that, given how
the disease develops, the likelihood of children from Central America
bringing it to the U.S. is almost nonexistent. Gingrey's office could not provide one example. While migrant children do pose public health risks, this claim is out of the ball park.
Statistics show Medicaid expansion has reduced the need for charity by hospitals. Uncompensated care in the US totaled $45.9 billion in 2012 and burden hospitals. If the trend continues hospitals hope it’s enough to offset cuts called for in the Affordable Care Act.
The Affordable Care Act says if states can regulate premiums, they
should. States only have to bring laws up to minimum Obamacare
requirements and only intervenes in states that don’t have effective rate review programs -- something Florida can do on its own, but won’t.
Nonprofits as Catholic schools and hospitals can opt out of covering birth
control by notifying the Department of Health and Human Services of
their objections. A
third-party insurer will pay for and administer the coverage so that women still receive the contraceptive
coverage guaranteed to them by the Affordable Care Act.
has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the
2008 and 2012 campaigns and is tracking their progress on our Obameter.
Pennsylvania will become the 28th state to expand Medicare under the Affordable Care Act. An estimated 500,000 low-income individuals will be offered subsidies to purchase private insurance. The state will fund and administer a voluntary program that will offer job training and placement services.
In reality, nearly 79 percent of the ALS Association’s expenditures were

executive salaries account for no more than 21 percent.
A 2010 study shows children who witnessed any intimate partner violence are 2.6 times as likely to perpetrate it themselves. Children who witnessed any
violence were 1.6 times as likely to become perpetrators. We need new studies.
Food stamps have been part of every farm bill enacted since 1973. Cotton and his allies in the House attempted to strip the food stamp provisions, so they were the ones who were trying to make a radical change.
Mutation happens when viruses replicate but most mutations hurt the virus and are automatic dead-ends. About two-thirds don’t change how Ebola functions, but there is no data to say
whether the functional changes matter. The most recent study in
West Africa found that many new varieties are not passed on to new
The donation and court appearance are verified, however Abbott’s intervention was
limited to defending the constitutionality of a Texas law that essentially gives immunity to hospitals for credentialing dangerous physicians..
Based on public statements, Obama and CDC officials have repeatedly said
there’s a chance an Ebola case could appear in the United States, but
the possibility of an outbreak is extremely low.
About 57,000 Kansans obtained insurance on HealthCare.gov. If
the state follows the national trend, roughly half of these people were
uninsured before the law.
specifically cited health care costs as the main reason, though the
Affordable Care Act is not necessarily the primary cause of that
calculation. Even though projections are lower than they were
years ago, health care spending is rising in the short term.
Adams, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Emerge, an abuser education program, says common excuses are: "Alcohol made me do it," "She provoked me," or "I lost control," or "I was under a lot of stress." Even victims may believe the excuse. Society must be clear that there is no excuse for abuse.
Obama's November 2013 nominee, Dr. Vivek Murthy, has an MD from Yale, teaches at Harvard medical school, and has a long list of impressive medical credentials, but Senate
Republicans blocked his confirmation because of
alleged anti-gun leanings.
Ninety year old "Chef Arnold Abbott" and two pastors were arrested for serving food that they cooked in their church kitchen. Some 30 cities have tried to introduce laws
similar laws at a time that more veterans face homelessness and
after two harsh winters drove homeless people southward.
Experts say that it is not in China’s interest to spend the next 16 years working toward the goal, but building that infrastructure cannot be done overnight and will take years to carry out.
Most states will have a three-month limit on SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits for unemployed adults aged 18-50 who aren’t disabled or raising minor children. An Ohio report shows that 1/3 had a medical or physical limitation, including depression, PTSD, or mental or learning disabilities. Many were caregivers or had other impediment to employment.
Thompson takes a few snippets and spins them into a misleading tale. Only a very specific type of person will have increases and at worse they would be up to $2,200 per yr. Most people will see premiums reduced or increased by 1 or 2 percent.
They predict that "the lives of people in poor countries will improve faster in the next 15
years than at any other time in history. And their lives will improve
more than anyone else's." They will have "unprecedented opportunities to get an education, eat nutritious food,
and benefit from mobile banking", driven by
innovation in technology. Goals include making drinking water from sewage, wiping out malaria, polio, HIV, and more.
"There is no reason for an employer who is not currently providing
health care to their workers to discourage them from either getting
health insurance on the job or being able to avail themselves of the
Affordable Care Act," Obama said in the interview Tuesday.
Bush, who has said he will run in the Republican presidential primary, says without government funding "we lose the initiative to cure diseases." This is an unpopular stand among republicans whose desire to cut the budget overshadows other concerns.
The number comes from the 2011 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey
, which was released in September 2014 by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, showing that 19.3 percent of women reported experiences that are
considered to be rape or attempted rape under the survey’s guidelines.
There’s little debate that generous military health care benefits are
taking up an ever-increasing share of the Pentagon’s budget.
Corcoran was citing a 2010 University of Virginia study that looked at
Medicaid patients who underwent surgery, not all people in the program. Other studies show using Medicaid improves access and quality of life
for many patients, or at the very least doesn’t hurt them.
Federal campaign spending tops worldwide antacid sales no matter how you cut it. Factoring in state elections makes the disparity even greater.
Medicare does pay
for in-hospital observational care, but medicare considers it outpatient treatment if there is no diagnosis, so it does not qualify the person for nursing home followup care. This has nothing to do with Obama-Care. The claim is not only ridiculous but also dangerous, by urging ailing patients to leave the hospital for no good reason.
Carrey called aluminum a poison and toxin. Like many other chemicals, it could be, in dosages and scenarios that are rare.
There is no scientific evidence found by PolitiFact suggesting otherwise. In fact, the
only debate stems from a theory, not research that contradicts decades
That’s not the case -- Planned Parenthood saw 2.7 million patients in
2013, not the 39 million it would have needed to see for Reid’s claim to
be accurate. Even if every Planned Parenthood patient had no other
health care options, the group would have seen about 2 percent of women,
not 30 percent.
In the GOP debate, Kasich defended
his decision to accept Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care
Act. The Kaiser Family Foundation says
Ohio’s growth rate is 3.3 percent between 2010 and 2013, placing it
slightly below the national average of four percent. Overall, Ohio ranks
26th out of 50 states.Ohio benefited.
Kasich defended Ohio's Medicaid expansion by saying, when skeptics arrive in heaven, "Saint Peter isn’t going to ask them how
small they’ve kept government, but what they have done for the poor.
" He quotes Matthew 25.
Healthy people are employable, and Medicaid money helps, rehabilitate prisoners and drug users, which saves money. Ohio's budget has a surplus and he has cut taxes.
The United States spends more on health care per capita than other
countries, but not always twice as much. European countries with extensive social service networks aren’t so far
behind the United States.
In an effort to debunk defenders that Planned Parenthood provides
essential women’s health services in addition to abortions, an
anti-abortion group claimed that none of the organization’s clinics is
licensed to provide mammograms. Planned Parenthood physicians do however perform the clinical exams that lead to
referrals for a mammogram or other specialized care.
During an anti-abortion rant to defund Planned Parenthood, Leigh Anne Woods walked up the podium and took her shirt off saying,
“You have a problem because they perform abortions, look at everything else they do, they save lives!” Woods said.
“It’s more than birth control,” she insisted. “It’s more than abortion. They save lives.”
The report says that Koch and other oil and gas pipeline companies caused destruction of wetlands south of New Orleans,
eliminating New Orleans' "natural protection, and exacerbating the damage done when Katrina hit, .They continue to oppose reform legislation.
"Twenty-three million Americans suffer from addiction
, but only 1 in 10 get treatment," Clinton proposes medication-assisted treatments such as buprenorphine and methadone,
along with counseling, because these have proven to be effective according to the World Health Organization
Setting abortion procedures aside -- Planned Parenthood offered more
than 10 million services in 2013. Those services included contraception,
breast exams, pregnancy tests, pap tests and STI/STD testing and treatment.
Planned Parenthood’s most common pregnancy services in 2013 were
pregnancy tests (1.1 million services); HIV tests (704,000 services); emergency contraception kits (1.4
million services) and Pap tests (378,692 services). No federal money has paid for any abortion services, and there’s been no confirmation it sells
body parts for profit.
Mannatech paid $7 million to settle a deceptive marketing lawsuit in Texas based on their claims that their products could cure autism, cancer, etc. the problem is not that Carson boldly endorsed the company, since he sincerely believed it it. The problem is that he boldly lied about his involvement without blinking.
Full Video of Ben Carson endorsing Mannatech.
called him out on "bald-faced lies" about his relationship with supplement company, Mannatech, but rather than explain the videos of his commercial endorsement of the company,
Carson just blames his rivals.
That is true in about 10 percent of the counties where individuals
buy their coverage on the government’s insurance exchange. In another 30
percent of counties, people have only two companies to choose between.
But in 60 percent of the counties there are at least three insurance providers to compare.
