Pope Francis
Pope Francis Challenges Davos Elite: 'Humanity To Be Served By Wealth, Not Ruled By It'
In a message to more than 2,500 participants at the annual World Economic Forum, the pontiff urged industrialists and bankers to promote inclusive prosperity, but stopped short of chiding them for excesses laid bare by the global financial crisis.
Rush Limbaugh
Wisconsin is "one of the bluest" states, but under Scott Walker its unemployment rate "is around 3.5%."
Wrong on both points. Wisconsin has voted for the Democratic nominee in the last seven presidential contests, but it is a frequent battleground state and far from being an automatic in the Democratic column. State Government is Republican, but mixed. Unemployment dropped to near 6 percent, under Walker.
Gretchen Carlson- Conservative Pundit
"The CBO now says the president's health care law will cut the number of full-time jobs in the United States by 2.3 million by 2021."
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report is misquoted. The CBO said the health care law will give more people an incentive to reduce their hours; some will limit their hours and some will stop working altogether by their own choice. The law would not push up unemployment, but may affect the number of hours worked..
John Boehner
New carbon regulations will increase electric bills by "$17 billion every year" and "potentially put an average of 224,000 more people out of work every year."
Boehner sited an earlier Chamber of Commerce study that made predictions based on different regulations than those announced by the White House.
Barack Obama
"We've recovered (from the recession) faster and come farther than almost any other advanced country on Earth."
According to the annual Economic Report, of 12 nations, only the US and Germany have surpassed their pre-recession level. Another measure, says US is expected to have the highest growth in the coming year -- a projected 2.75 percent.
Paul Ryan
Twenty percent of single adults, ages 21 to 25 with no kids, "are not working or even in school trying to find a job."
The latest federal figures show that 19 percent of adults ages 20 to 24 weren’t in school and weren’t working in 2013. But Ryan misstated the age range, and it includes everyone in that age range, not just those without children.  He later admitted that he misquoted the stats.
Barack Obama
What has Obama accomplished as president? Which campaign promises were compromised? Which ones has he failed to keep?
PolitiFact has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the 2008 and 2012 campaigns and is tracking their progress on our Obameter.
Republican Policies Questioned
Republicans For Kansas Values are backing the Democratic candidate for governor because the Republican agenda has backfired in Kansas.
This organization, supported by an extensive list of notable Republican politicians and public servants, has posted an impressive statement called, Why Sam Brownback’s Policies are Taking Kansas in the Wrong Direction. They say these Republican policies have caused deficit spending, drastic cuts in education and highway spending, hurt job growth, benefited special interests at the expense of the people, and downgrades Kansas character and creates embarrassing headlines.
Texas Politics

Many hotly contested Texas races produced many false claims on both sides of the isle. Check out if your candidate is telling the truth.
"When (Barack Obama) took office, 2.3 million people were out of work. Five-plus years later, we have 5 million-plus out of work."
By almost every metric you can use to calculate the number of Americans who are "out of work," the number has been going down, not up
Rick Perry Gov Tx
Perry said this week that income inequality is not a problem in Texas. "Biblically, the poor are always going to be with us in some form or fashion."
The facts are, Texas has the 13th highest poverty rate in the United States. Texas is one of nine states with the highest levels of income inequality. Texas has created over a million jobs since the recession began. But it has also added a quarter million more part-time workers who want full-time jobs. Mark 14:7 says the poor will be with you but it does not say to ignore them.
Income Inequity
Twenty states will be hiking their minimum wages on New Year's Day.
After Congress failed to act, even some red states like Alaska, Arkansas, Nebraska and South Dakota will raise wages due to November election initiatives. Many increases will be tied to an inflation index.
Jeb Bush Fl
America lags behind most every developed country in terms of being able to move up the economic ladder.
The American dream that hard work could pay off is want made America great, but evidence shows that is no longer true. Bush says that we must fix our education system in order to turn that around. Many would say income inequality is the cause.
Budget Cuts
One Million Unemployed Childless Adults Will Lose SNAP Benefits in 2016.
Most states will have a three-month limit on SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits for unemployed adults aged 18-50 who aren’t disabled or raising minor children. An Ohio report shows that 1/3 had a medical or physical limitation, including depression, PTSD, or mental or learning disabilities. Many were caregivers or had other impediment to employment.
Interesting graphs showing the labor picture in December 2014
Unemployment dropped from 6.7 to 5.6 percent. Duration of unemployment decreased 11 percent. Drops occurred in almost every race, education lever and type employment.

Terry Jeffrey Cnn News
There were more people on welfare than working in 2013.
The number of "welfare" recipients -- unlike the number of workers -- is enlarged by the inclusion of children and senior citizens. The comparison also ignores that many "welfare" recipients actually work, so trying to separate the two categories creates a false dichotomy.
Andy Puzder
"Obamacare has caused millions of full-time jobs to become part-time."
The statistics, in this case, are inadequate to either prove or disprove that "millions" of Americans have seen their job go from full-time to part-time due to the law. That said, there’s evidence suggesting that hundreds of thousands of workers may have seen their hours cut as the law’s impact began to be felt.
Ted Cruz Tx
"92 million Americans aren't working."
Once you strip out senior citizens and school-age Americans, the number is less than half that.
Lou Dobbs Fox Pundit
Because of President Barack Obama’s failure to "push job creation," the black unemployment rate in Ferguson, Mo., is three times higher than the white unemployment rate.
First and foremost, Dobbs’ numbers are off. The most recent and best available statistics say the black unemployment rate is 1.9 times higher than the white unemployment rate in Ferguson (16 percent to 8.5 percent). Second, that has little to do with Obama.
Barack Obama
Five things President Obama wants to discuss with Pope Francis when the pontiff comes to DC.
1. Poor And Marginalized Populations; 2. Environmental Stewardship; 3. Religious Freedom; 4. Economic Opportunity; 5. and Immigration Reform.
Jeb Bush Fl
"Only one person has been fired" at the Veterans Administration for withholding services.
Data reviewed by Politifact through May 14 showed that 18 permanent employees have been fired for patient scheduling, record manipulation, appointment delays, and/or patient deaths.
Marco Rubio
"For the first time in 35 years, we have more businesses dying than we do starting."
While this statement is true, the downturn actually happened during the recession in 2008.
Scott Walker
Walker says Wisconsin unemployment went from 8% to 4.6% since he took office, and "the rate in which people are working is almost five points higher than it is nationally.”
Walker failed his campaign promise to create 250,000 jobs, but says he, instead, brought down unemployment rates and raised labor participation rates. The numbers check out, but the   decrease was when both national and regional unemployment rates steadily decreased as well.
Donald Trump
Trump said, "We have 93 million people out of work. They look for jobs, they give up, and all of a sudden, statistically, they're considered employed."
Once you strip out full-time students, senior citizens, the disabled, and those who have chosen not to work to take care of their children, a more reasonable estimate of "out of work" Americans is somewhere in the neighborhood of 21 million, or less than a quarter of Trump’s figure. Meanwhile, he is flat wrong that the government reclassifies discouraged workers as "employed."
Donald Trump
Trump says, "We have 93 million people out of work. They look for jobs, they give up, and all of a sudden, statistically, they're considered employed."
There are only about 21 million unemployed when you do not count full-time students, senior citizens, the disabled, and those who have chosen not to work to take care of their children. The government DOES NOT reclassify discouraged workers as "employed."
Donald Trump
Trump claims, "Our real unemployment is anywhere from 18 to 20 percent. Don't believe the 5.6. Don't believe it."
Setting aside his paranoia about the federal government cooking the books, Trump is off-base. Every source shows the unemployment rate is low.
Carly Fiorina
Fiorina said "92 percent of the jobs lost during Barack Obama’s first term belonged to women."
PolitiFact has found that the number of women with jobs increased by 416,000 during Obama’s first term.
Ted Cruz Tx
Cruz says "Under Barack Obama and the big government economy, the median wage for women has dropped $733."
Wages actually have risen for women since Obama took office.
Donald Trump
June Trump Truthfulness average is "Mostly False."
As of June 10, 2016, PolitiFact has reviewed 154 statements by Donald Trump. Twelve (12) were true or mostly true. Forty nine (49) were 1/2 True of Mostly-False.  And Ninety three (93) were False or Pants-on-Fire. Below are just a few:
Donald Trump
Trump says 4.9% unemployment numbers are phony and that the real numbers are "probably 28, 29, as high as 35. In fact, I even heard recently 42 percent."
No matter how you calculate unemployment rates, Trumps numbers are totally fabricated.
